Promising footy star Tom Wilkinson gives up his AFL contract to star on The Amazing Race Australia with fellow player Tyler Roos
An up-and-coming Australian Rules footballer has given up his sporting dreams to become a reality TV star.
Earlier this week, North Melbourne rookie Tom Wilkinson quit the AFL and signed up as a contestant on The Amazing Race Australia.
Tom, 23, will be joined on the Channel 10 show by fellow footy player Tyler Roos, who is the son of AFL veteran Paul Roos.

According to AFL.com.au, best friends Tom and Tyler will fly to a secret location on Thursday to begin filming The Amazing Race.
Tom reportedly played his final game for North's VFL side on Saturday.
It is understood that he had approached North Melbourne officials earlier this month about his possible career move.

Tom and Tyler will take on several other teams in challenges spanning various countries. If they win, they will receive a $250,000 cash prize.
In June, former NRL player Beau Ryan confirmed that he would be hosting Channel 10's reboot of The Amazing Race Australia.
He is taking over Grant Bowler, who hosted the show between 2011 and 2014 when it aired on Channel Seven.

Channel 10's Chief Content Officer Beverley McGarvey has described the show as a perfect blend of action, drama and captivating characters.
The U.S. version, hosted by Kiwi personality Phil Keoghan, has been on air since 2001 and drawn consistently strong ratings.
It failed to find a stable audience during its first run on Seven, so Channel 10 will no doubt be hoping for big numbers when it returns later this year.
