Lemon Squares

I guess you all wouldn't be surprised to hear that I woke up to snow coming down again covering up the ice so another walk in the basement.  Started listening to Rose Harbor in Bloom which is the second book in the series.  It picked up four months later after the first book ended.  Not much to say about my basement walk.  I'm starting to really look forward to spring!! : )
I walked 5 1/2 miles.

I was feeling a bit down this morning.  Got on the scale and saw that I had gained 2 pounds and Ken annoyed me when he was in my way in the kitchen.  I went and sat down in the library, said a little prayer and looked out of the big picture window.  What I saw soon had me in a happy mood once again.  The snow was just kind of floating down in big flakes against the pine trees across the street.  The little tree in the middle of my yard has a bird's nest in it and is covered with snow.  The whole scene looked so pretty - like one of those snow globes.  It just made me feel happy.  I'll lose those two pounds and I was just annoyed with Ken because I was mad that I gained 2 pounds.
I got up out of the chair, gave Ken a hug and we went and had breakfast.

Mid morning when it was still snowing we both went outside.  Ken used the snow blower and I shoveled.  There was still a coating of ice under the snow so the driveway was still icy. When we came back in I felt like baking something again.  Ken said he'd like something lemony so I baked some Lemon Squares.  If you would like the recipe, you can find it HERE.
I read in the Tea Time magazine that Scones are pronounced to rhyme with Gone.  I always thought that it rhymed with Lone.  What do you think is right?

About 2 this afternoon the snow stopped and the sun came out for a while so I went back outside for a couple of hours and chopped off a good bit of the ice that was on the driveway.  The temperature was 28 degrees so it wasn't melting.  It was nice to be out in the sunshine though. : )

I finished reading In His Steps: What Would Jesus Do?" written in 1897 by Charles M. Sheldon.  The novel is about Reverend Henry Maxwell and a challenge he puts to his congregation to not to do anything without first asking themselves, "What would Jesus do?" for one year.  I found the book fascinating and thought it very good.  Sure makes you think.
The book was a gift from Kathy, Pastor Leatherman's wife.  She gave a copy to all the woman who went to the ladies Christmas party.

Hope your day brought you sunshine and happiness.

Today's Three Thankful Things
  1. Seeing the sunshine
  2. That I can make Ken smile and see a twinkle in his eyes just by making  him Lemon Squares
  3. For another day

Vee - Oh we both had another one later on.  We just had the 1/2 to taste.  They are sitting out on the counter now under plastic wrap.  I had another one today.  I probably will put what's left in the freezer tomorrow.
