Oh my..... God! Since departing from the incredibly successful girl group The Pussycat Dolls following a slew of hits including "Don't Cha", "Buttons" and "I Hate This Part", former lead vocalist Nicole Scherzinger has since ventured on a criminally underrated solo career and has yet to really make a mark for herself in the competitive pop field. That could all change with the release of her latest single.
Though her last efforts, "Try With Me" and "
Boomerang", did not garner the attention they truly deserved, Scherzinger is definitely coming out of her misfortunes much stronger thanks to the Tricky Stewart/The Dream-produced "
Your Love", a track that instantly sets itself apart from the rest of the generic, radio-friendly offerings of the past year. It's a refreshing, urban/dance-pop effort that is upbeat, unique and compliments the artist's vocals well, setting up the beginning of a solid new album cycle.
"
Something 'bout you so enticing, even when I try to fight it, knock me out like Michael Tyson, I'll do whatever you want," Scherzinger seductively sings during the clever verses before the catchy chorus of a few "ooh, do do-do do, ooh"'s will have any listener chanting along. The ever-changing production and the progression of the new single is so messy and distracting that it actually adds nice layers to the love song. Everything just comes together when it seems they shouldn't have.
"
Your Love" is another well-crafted, fresh start for Scherzinger, a talented vocalist who has unfortunately not gotten much recognition due to the drama that surrounded the disbandment of her former girl group. There is no doubt in anyone's mind that the girl can sing and she's released amazing pop gems like "
Don't Hold Your Breath" and "Wet" over the years, this effort just comes off natural and unforced. Her flame is burning bright once again.
